           Verb Phrases

A verb phrase includes a main verb and any auxiliary verbs that go along with it.  Auxiliary verbs always come before main verbs to give extra information about the action or condition in the clause.

          Bill and Linda might  go to France next spring.

          Hinda would have  gone to the play, but her car broke down.

          My mom believes that I should  quit my job and focus on school.

          Samuel did  finish his paper on time, but he forgot to turn it in.  

          Choua should have  stayed home to rest.

          She might  be the next president of the company.

          The class might have  been the best class I have  taken.

          We are  running in tomorrow's race.
